Custom Automation Solutions We've Built

Every system below started as a production problem with no off-the-shelf answer. Press play to watch each one running on the floor.

Material Handling

DeBander: Automated Band & Dunnage Removal

Cutting tensioned banding by hand is one of the most hazardous jobs in material handling. DeBander combines robotics, machine vision, conveyance and engineered end-of-arm tooling to find the best cut points, then cuts, captures and shreds the bands while dunnage is picked and palletized automatically.

Identify. Cut. Remove. Ready for production.

Wood Products

PuttyPatch: Plywood Defect Repair

Vision finds splits and knots in plywood, then a robot injects wood putty right where it's needed.

Find it. Fix it. Keep production moving.

Machining

Robotic Machine Tending

A robot loads your machining center from a carousel, runs each cycle and returns finished parts.

Load once. Machine automatically. Produce more.

Wood Products

AutoPatcher: Veneer Defect Repair

2D vision locates veneer defects and positions each one for removal and a durable butterfly patch.

Detect. Position. Patch.

Material Handling

PlyRunner: Autonomous Transport

An AGV with built-in conveyance moves plywood lifts between processes and cuts forklift traffic.

Move more. Fewer forklifts. Steady flow.

Your process doesn't have to look like these. Each one began as a single customer's problem. Several are now pre-engineered platforms we can adapt to your line, which shortens engineering time and lowers project risk.

How a Project Runs

Turnkey Automation from Concept to Commissioning

One team owns your project from the first feasibility test to long-term support. No hand-offs between an engineering firm, a fabricator and a separate integrator.

  1. Validate

Simulation and hands-on testing with your real parts confirm cycle time, robot choice and vision.

  2. Engineer

Mechanical, electrical, controls, robot and vision design, right-sized to your process and budget.

  3. Build & Integrate

Robotics, vision, controls and conveyance fabricated and integrated into a single working system.

  4. Test & Deploy

Tested against your performance targets, then installed and commissioned by the team that built it.

  5. Support

24/7 remote and on-site support, scheduled maintenance and continuous improvement after go-live.

SyncLabs Engineering Studies

Automation Feasibility Studies Before You Build

SyncLabs helps manufacturers prove an automation concept before committing significant capital. Our R&D lab pairs experienced automation engineers with simulation software and hands-on testing.

Using your real production parts wherever possible, we recreate the key elements of your application in a controlled environment. That lets us test concepts, find risks early, choose the right equipment and confirm performance before anything is built.

Validate first. Invest with confidence.

What we validate

  • Cycle time
  • Robot selection
  • Machine vision
  • Conveyance
  • Sensors
  • Controls
  • Mechanical hardware
  • Lower technical and financial risk
  • Greater confidence in system performance
  • A firmer project scope and price

Questions

Custom Automation FAQs

Are you a custom machine builder or a robot integrator?
Both. We design and build custom industrial machinery in-house, then integrate the robots, vision, controls and conveyance that run it. That means one company is accountable for the whole system, from the first design to support after go-live.
What's the difference between custom and turnkey automation?
Custom automation is engineered around your specific parts, process and production targets instead of adapted from a catalogue machine. Turnkey means we deliver it complete and running, with one company responsible for design, build, integration, testing and commissioning. Sync Robotics delivers both.
Do I need a feasibility study before a project starts?
Not always. A SyncLabs study is most useful when cycle time, part variation, vision or robot selection is uncertain. Testing those assumptions with your real parts gives you a firmer scope and price before you commit capital.
Can a custom system work with our existing equipment?
Yes. Our systems are designed to integrate with the equipment you already run, such as your machining center of choice or existing grading and patching lines. Our controls team also works on equipment from other manufacturers and integrators.
What industries do you build automation for?
Our systems run in wood products, machining, fabrication and general manufacturing. If your process involves repetitive handling, inspection, repair or assembly that off-the-shelf equipment can't handle, we would like to hear about it.
Where do you work?
Sync Robotics is based in Kelowna, British Columbia, and delivers projects for manufacturers across Canada and the United States.
What support do you offer after installation?
We offer 24/7 remote and on-site support. We can build a service program around your facility, from emergency troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance to ongoing controls support and continuous improvement.
